Silky Camellia, Stewartia malacodendron

Silky camellia (Stewartia malacodendron) is a rare, unusual, and extremely showy woodland native plant. This deciduous shrub or small tree matures to 8' to 15' tall and is known for its camellia-like flowers with pale pink to purple centers that bloom in June. It some years it will develop excellent yellow fall color. It performs best in partial shade to sun in well-drained, acidic soils.
