American Mountain Ash, Sorbus americana

The American Mountain Ash tree is a relatively small, deciduous, understory tree that generally reaches 15 to 20 feet tall at maturity. This stoic tree is often founds high up in the mountains of western North Carolina and can endure tough winters with a hardiness zone ranging from 2a to 6b. Its known for its edible fruit, which consists of broad clusters of bright, coral-red berries that are prized by birds, deer, and other wildlife. White showy flowers are produced in the spring.
