Carex appalachica, also known as the Appalachian Sedge,  grows to a height of 10 to 12 inches, forming neat, dense clumps of soft, arching green foliage. Its finely textured leaves create a soft, flowing effect in the landscape when planted in masses. Overall, it is an excellent choice for ground cover, borders, slopes, or adding depth to woodland gardens. It does best in full to partial shade and prefers dry to average soil moisture. Zone 3-8.
