The 2022 Perennial Plant of the Year winner, Schizachyrium scoparium or Little bluestem is known for its attractive color changes throughout the seasons. The native grass provides a combination of green, blues, and purple leaves that turn yellow-orange in the fall. While it can tolerate light shade, it produces its best growth and most vibrant color in sunny locations. Its grows in average to dry soils, and reaches a height of 2' to 3'. This is a great plant for erosion control, meadow plantings, or slopes.
