Podophyllum peltatum, commonly known as mayapple, is a distinctive native woodland perennial prized for its umbrella-like leaves and ability to form lush colonies in shaded landscapes. In spring, pairs of large, deeply lobed leaves create a dense groundcover effect, while a single nodding white flower appears beneath the foliage, later developing into a small ornamental fruit.
