The stunning Pagoda Dogwood (Cornus alternifolia) is a native understory shrub or small tree prized for its distinctive horizontal branching and layered, pagoda-like form. This small deciduous tree offers year-round interest—creamy-white spring flowers attract pollinators, followed by striking blue-black berries loved by birds. In fall, its foliage glows in shades of burgundy and gold, and its elegant branching structure provides winter beauty even after the leaves fall.
Cornus alternifolia is perfect for woodland edges, shaded gardens, or as a specimen plant. It thrives in part shade and moist, well-drained, slightly acidic soil.
