Red trillium (Trillium erectum) is a classic native woodland wildflower admired for its deep red to burgundy spring blooms. Flowering in mid-spring, each elegant three-petaled blossom rises above a trio of broad, green leaves, creating a dramatic focal point in shade gardens and woodland landscapes.

This hardy perennial is native to the Southeastern US and thrives in partial to full shade.  Ideal for native plant gardens, woodland borders, and naturalized areas, Trillium erectum is a long-lived, low-maintenance plant that slowly forms beautiful colonies over time. It is often found in dry to medium moisture soils.

Hardy in zones 4-7, it is deer-resistant and well suited for pollinator gardens. where it is a host plant for larvae of black-patched clepsis moth (Clepsis melaleucanus) and American angle shades moth (Euplexia benesimilis). Perfect for shade gardening, native perennial collections, and spring ephemeral plantings, red trillium adds timeless beauty and ecological value to any woodland garden.
