Sensitive Fern, Onoclea sensibilis

Sensitive fern, Onoclea sensibilis, is a unique fern with light green, coarese-textured fronds. Growing to a height and width of 3-4', sensitive fern prefers part to full shade. Sensitive fern is a good choice for rain gardens as it thrives in medium to wet soil. Plants spread via spores and rhizomes. This fern is native to a wide range eastern North America where it is found in wet woods and swamps. The epithet swamp refers to the fact that the foliage is sensitive to drought and frost.
